The Karlsruhe University of Education established close ties with other universities in the early 1970s and has continued to cultivate inter-national exchange. Thanks to the expansion of the European Union and the increasing global interdepen-dence of the European states, the number and variety of our inter-national partnerships has grown. And not only in Europe!
What we do:
We consider it a crucial aspect of academic life that members of the University community should have contact with other cultures and native speakers. Therefore we actively encourage the cultivation, deepening and expansion of our links. In this sense the International Office is the interface between members of the teaching staff, administrative staff and students and their counterparts in other countries; we encourage, facilitate and support mobility and other forms of internationalization throughout the institution.
Among our responsibilities are the following:
We advise and supervise international students and those interested in studying as exchange, guest or degree-seeking students at the Karlsruhe University of Education.
We advise PH KA students who want to study or do an internship abroad for one or two semesters.
We advise and support visiting doctoral students and academics who teach and do research at the PH KA.
We provide opportunities for and support members of our teaching and administrative staffs who wish to go abroad, especially to partner institutions.
We cultivate links with our partner universities and try to find new partners that complement our programmes.
We work closely with organisations that manage exchange and scholarship programmes; in particular we coordinate internationalisation programmes of the European Union, like ERASMUS, and the Baden-Württemberg STIPENDIUM of the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung (Baden-Württemberg Foundation).
