The three-year course of vocational training
1. The Institute has organized these courses continuously since 1980, with the recognition of the Regione Toscana. The courses comply with the Resolution of the Conferenza delle Regioni of the 28 October 2011 and are allowed to issue in the triennium, two distinct certificates: 2. Qualified Technician in Restoration, at the end of the second year;
3. Expert Technician in Restoration, at the end of the third year;
The three-year course has a duration of 2,700 hours (1,800 hours in the two years of basic training + 900 hours in the third year of specialization). At the end of each course, all the students who have attended at least at the 75% of the training hours provided in the overall three-year period will be admitted to the final examination The final certification issued at the end of the three years course is "Technician Restorer of Cultural Heritage", equivalent to "Collaborator Restorer" according to the Ministerial Decree 86/2009.
In the academic year 2013-14, the Institute is going to activate 4 educational addresses: Restoration of frescoes - Restoration of paintings on canvas and wood panel - Restoration of paper artefacts - Restoration of ceramic and stone artefacts. Graduates who have attended the three year courses, after passing the final Technical Expert exam, will be automatically included in the National List of Restorers of Cultural Heritage managed by the Ministry. Who attends only a year or obtain only the two-year diploma of Qualified Technician will not be included in any list, but can still act as Assistant Restorer.
